Management Systems Certification

It was once considered simply 'good business practice' to implement a formal management system, such as ISO 9001 and have it certified / registered by a third party. Now, for many forward thinking organisations, it has become an absolute necessity.

We are all aware of the ever increasing pressures on management for business efficiency, which are coupled with consumers' demands for products and services of a consistent and acceptable quality. For many organisations this requires that the business cornerstones of planning, control and implementation must not only be correctly managed, but that they are managed in a way that is demonstrable to its' customer base.

Similarly, both customer practices and legislation have increased the need for businesses to incorporate Environmental (ISO 14001) and Health & Safety (OHSAS 18001) management systems within their organisations.

The more naive organisations may views the need for such management systems as 'added costs'. However, when correctly communicated, implemented and monitored, these systems so not only support regulatory compliance - they deliver those sought after cost saving:

The better use of energy, careful selection of raw materials and controlled recycling of waste products all contribute to the bottom line, securing vital competitive advantage.

A sound health and safety policy will deliver greater output, through the avoidance of lost time and enhanced staff moral, whilst also reducing exposure to litigation.

A well implemented quality management system will support you in meeting your customers' requirements in all respects. It will assist in the well running of your business today and guide your development in the future.

Integrated Management Systems

In recognition of both the duplication and the lost opportunities that may occur, if all three of the above are implemented separately, the prime International Standards (ISO 9001 [QMS]; ISO 14001 [EMS]; OHSAS 18001 [H&S]) are all written in a similar format. This permits the development within an organisation of an Integrated Management System, covering all of the vital facets within a business.

In addition to undertaking audits and providing Certification to these management systems on an individual basis, AMTAC provides a single Integrated Management System assessment process. Thus maximise the effectiveness of the audit, by taking a truly holistic approach and minimising audit costs by avoiding duplication.
