Legislation - Scope & Guidelines

The UK Consumer Protection Act applies to virtually all consumer products. Where product specific legislation does not exist (unlike toys, cycles, medical devices, domestic electricals etc. that have product specific legislation), then the General Product Safety Regulations (GPSR) apply. Where the legislation is based upon a European 'New Approach' Directive, then the product will also need to bear the European 'CE Marking'.
